In the Beginning Original

Original painting by Victoria Barnhill, painted in April of 2025. Acrylic on canvas painted in many layers using a palette knife and multiple paint brushes. This painting has thick texture that is very expressive as well as bold color throughout. 
 
“In the Beginning.” This painting is my version of the dawn of our existence and I believe it is an important artistic commentary that will spur on much discussion. Below I will explain a bit about the thought process behind the creation of this piece.  
I named it “In the Beginning” because everyone knows what comes next - “God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). I painted the waters below to depict the earth with the heavens rising above it. The cross is clearly found at the epicenter of it all, with the cross vapors reflected in the heavens as well. I chose the cross because of Colossians 1:16, which tells us that all things were created by Him (Jesus), and for Him. He has created the physical and spiritual realms, and I tried to marry those two realms together in this piece. 
Gallery wrapped canvas at 1.5” thick, and it is 36” tall by 24” wide. The painting comes signed, varnished, and with an official certificate of authenticity. Please allow 2-4 weeks for shipping.
